Product Information
3-chloroquinoline-2-carbaldehyde is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of organometallic compounds. It is synthesized by reacting 2,4,5-trichlorobenzoyl chloride with an excess of dimethylformamide in the presence of an aluminum chloride catalyst. 3-chloroquinoline-2-carbaldehyde has been shown to be active against P. aeruginosa, S. pyogenes, and other bacteria. This chemical can be used as an antimicrobial agent and is toxic to test organisms at high concentrations (0.02%). The degree of toxicity depends on the dilution method used in the assay. 3-chloroquinoline-2-carbaldehyde also reacts with chloride ions to form chlorine gas and carboxylic acid derivatives that are more toxic than the original compound.
