Product Information
4-Nitrophenyl 5-((4S)-2-oxohexahydro-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-4-yl)pentanoate (NPP) is a potent antibacterial agent that is currently under development for the treatment of bacterial infections. NPP binds to a regulatory site on nociceptors, thereby reducing the pain response. It also has been shown to inhibit the production of TNF-α in human cells and reduce pain in animal models. The mechanism of action is not yet fully understood but may involve alteration of gene expression or regulation of protein synthesis. NPP is also used as a model system for studying human cellular processes such as biorecognition, microscopy, and high throughput analysis.
