Product Information
Methyl heptadecanoate-d33 is an isotope of methyl heptadecanoate that is used in the study of uptake and efflux. Methyl heptadecanoate-d33 has been found to be taken up into cells by active transport, but it can also be taken up passively by osmosis. It is metabolized intracellularly, with some of its metabolites being excreted through the cell membrane into the extracellular medium. This process may be inhibited by ammonium ions or quaternary ammonium compounds (quats). Methyl heptadecanoate-d33 can also inhibit glycine uptake, which may result in a decrease in polymer synthesis.
Methyl heptadecanoate-d33 has been found to inhibit microbial growth, with constant concentrations being effective at inhibiting both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
