Product Information
1-(3-Hydroxyphenyl)ethane-1,2-diol is a compound that is used as a reagent for the synthesis of diazo compounds. It has been shown to have processability and can be used in hydroxylation reactions. 1-(3-Hydroxyphenyl)ethane-1,2-diol also acts as an intermediate for the production of hydroxystyrene and pupal. This compound reacts with thiourea to form a chloride, which is then reacted with cadmium chloride to form a magnetic product. The hydrocarbon group can be reduced by reacting with sodium borohydride or potassium borohydride to produce methyl esters. 1-(3-Hydroxyphenyl)ethane-1,2-diol can also react with metal surfaces such as copper or nickel to produce carboxylic acid derivatives.
