2-Chloro-6-methoxyquinazolin-4(3H)-one is an antihyperglycemic agent that has significant antidiabetic effects. It is a functionalized analog of sucrose and it has been found to reduce blood glucose levels in mice. 2-Chloro-6-methoxyquinazolin-4(3H)-one can be used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2, which is caused by insulin resistance. In addition, 2-chloro-6-methoxyquinazolin-4(3H)-one exhibits an antihyperglycemic activity by inhibiting the release of amines from pancreatic β cells, which are responsible for regulating blood glucose levels.
