Product Information
2-Methylbutyl Chloroformate is a chloroformate that can be used as an intramolecular or intermolecular electrophile for the synthesis of ketones, esters, amides, and lactones. It can also be used to convert alkyl halides into corresponding chloroformates by replacement of the chloride group with two methyl groups. The 2-methylbutyl group is optically active due to the presence of two chiral centers. 2-Methylbutyl Chloroformate has a chloride ion pair that is kinetically labile and hydrolyzes in aqueous solution. This product has been used in liquid phase reactions when combined with pyridine or pyridinium salts as an ion-pairing agent.
