2-Methyl-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrazine is an industrial product that has been researched for its potential use in the treatment of tuberculosis. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme RNA polymerase and blocking the transcription of bacterial DNA. 2-Methyl-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrazine also inhibits Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) and has been shown to be active against other bacteria such as lactococcus and HIV. This compound is a potent antimicrobial agent that has been shown to have antibacterial properties in vitro.
