Product Information
1-Methylethylisoquinoline is a nucleophilic organocatalyst that is used in organic synthesis. It reacts with formic acid to produce methylmagnesium chloride, which is used as a reducing agent for Grignard reagents. The catalytic activity of 1-methylethylisoquinoline can be increased by the presence of chloride or magnesium ions. 1-Methylethylisoquinoline reacts with hydrogenated alcohols to produce tetralones, which are useful for the production of synthetic resins and dyes. This reagent also has been shown to be effective in the synthesis of chlorinated compounds such as chloroformates and dichlorides.
