Product Information
6-Hydroxy-2-oxo-4-phenyl-1,2-dihydro-pyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile (6OHPPD) is a heterocycle that has antimicrobial properties. 6OHPPD has been shown to have a high affinity for the adenosine A1 receptor and can be used as an antihypertensive drug. This compound also has antioxidant and antiproliferative effects on cancer cells. 6OHPPD also has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of other drugs in its class. It is metabolized through hydrolysis of the carbonyl group by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. The molecular modeling of this molecule shows how it binds to the adenosine A1 receptor.
