Maleimide-nota has been shown to be able to bind to the pd-l1 protein, which is found in high concentrations in cells involved in tumor growth and metastasis. It has also been observed that maleimide-nota can bind to pancreatic cancer cells. Maleimide-nota uptake is inhibited by unlabeled epidermal growth factor, which may be due to its ability to bind with other proteins such as epidermal growth factor receptors or epidermal growth factor receptor ligands. Maleimide-nota is used for diagnostic purposes and can help detect tumors in the pancreas or prostate.
