9-Bromo-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydropyrido[3,2,1-ij]quinoline is a red fluorescent compound that can be used to produce vinyl groups. It has been shown to emit light when it is excited by an electron. 9-Bromo-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydropyrido[3,2,1-ij]quinoline is also an efficient electron donor and can be used in multilayered organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). This molecule has been studied for its use in organic solar cells because of its ability to efficiently emit electrons.
