Product Information
1-Allyl-5-methylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione is an analog of pyrimidine. It belongs to the class of imines and has been shown to undergo intramolecular cyclisation to form a six membered ring with the nitrogen atom as one of the heterocyclic atoms. The synthesis of 1-allyl-5-methylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione can be achieved by reacting methanol with adenine in the presence of a base. This reaction leads to a methanol adduct that is then hydrolyzed to produce 1-allyl-5-methylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione. In addition, this compound has been shown to have biological activity when used as model compounds for biomimetic reactions involving hydrosilylation.
