Product Information
1,2,4,5-Tetraethynylbenzene is a molecule that can be synthesized by the palladium-catalyzed coupling of two multinuclear ligands. This reaction system is a multistep process in which the ligand coordinates to the metal catalyst before it undergoes nucleophilic substitution. Tetranuclear complexes are formed through ligand exchange and ligand displacement reactions with other tetranuclear complexes. The population of 1,2,4,5-tetraethynylbenzene is magnetic due to unpaired electrons on the carbon atoms. The magnetic properties make this molecule ideal for use as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Organoiron compounds are made from iron coordinated with organic molecules and have been shown to be effective in treatment of leukemia cells. Radially symmetric organoiron compounds have been shown to be effective against pancreatic cancer cells due to their ability to disrupt cell division and induce apoptosis
