Product Information
Ethyl 7-methyl-1H-indole-2-carboxylate is a lead compound that exhibits affinity for the N-terminal region of the anthranilic acid binding site of styphnates. It also displays high selectivity for this site, as well as being chiral and unambiguous. The indole ring can be substituted at the C4 position with fluorine to produce a potent antagonist for anthranilic acid. This compound has been optimized by replacing the phenylhydrazone group with a hydrazone group at position 3. The lead compound has been found to have promising pharmacological properties, with results suggesting that it may be a potential treatment for schizophrenia.
