Product Information
Methyl 4-(4-formylphenyl)benzoate is a fluorescent probe that has been used to study the binding of biomolecules to DNA. It can be synthesized by reacting methyl 4-hydroxyphenyl benzoate with sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate and potassium hydroxide in methanol. The resulting fluorophore has an emission maximum at 420 nm, which is suitable for use with a wide range of fluorophores. The compound is also useful for detecting the presence of cationic groups on proteins, as well as for studying the interactions between biomolecules and linkers. This dye has been validated experimentally and shown to have analogs that are structurally similar.
