Description:
1-(o-Tolyl)piperazine hydrochloride is an alkylpiperazine that has been shown to have a cholinergic activity in animals. It has also been shown to improve cognitive function and increase locomotor activity in rats. 1-(o-Tolyl)piperazine hydrochloride was found to be more potent than other alkylpiperazines such as piperidine, propylamine, and butylamine. This drug is synthesized from paraformaldehyde and acetylcholine, the latter of which is obtained from the brains of animals.
