Description:
3-Cyanobenzyl acetate is an acetonitrile that can be used to produce 3-cyanobenzoic acid. It has two stereoisomers, the cis and trans isomer, which are formed by a photochemical reaction. The cis isomer reacts with triplet oxygen and the singlet oxygen to form the corresponding ortho isomer. The trans isomer reacts with singlet oxygen to form the corresponding meta isomer. When irradiated with UV light, 3-cyanobenzyl acetate selectively converts to the cis stereoisomer. This product can also be used as a reactant for preparing other substances such as chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
