Product Information
3-Methoxypyridin-2-ol is a halogenated heterocyclic compound that is used as an analogue in the palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction. It can be prepared by the reaction of 5-bromo-2-chloropyridine with formaldehyde and ammonia, followed by treatment with sodium methoxide to give the corresponding alcohol. This synthesis is efficient and produces high yields. The functionalized analogues are also synthesized by reacting 3-methoxypyridin-2-ol with methyl iodide, potassium carbonate, and triethylamine in acetonitrile. These analogues have been shown to react with pyrimidine derivatives to produce substituted pyrimidines.
