6-(2-(3,4-Diethoxyphenyl)thiazol-4-yl)picolinic acid (1) is a synthetic compound that is structurally related to the natural product picolinic acid. It has been shown to have potent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria. The polymerase chain reaction with this compound as the template yielded diffraction data with a resolution of 2.5 Å. This compound has also been found to be active against bowel disease, with an activity index of 1.06, and it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal models of autoimmune diseases, including arthritis and colitis.
