Product Information
Hexyl 2-methoxyacetate is a toxicant that belongs to the group of butyrolactones. It can cause male reproductive toxicity, as shown in Sprague-Dawley rats. Hexyl 2-methoxyacetate causes testicular toxicity and follicle destruction. CD-1 mice were found to be less sensitive to this toxicant than Sprague-Dawley rats. The toxic effects of hexyl 2-methoxyacetate are caused by interference with sperm production and fertility, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis in the ovary and testes.
