4-Bromo-1-naphthaleneboronic acid is an inhibitor of the organic acid transporter SLCO1B1. It has been shown to inhibit the transport of uric acid in a human liver cell line, which may lead to increased levels of uric acid in the blood. 4-Bromo-1-naphthaleneboronic acid can be used for the treatment of gout and hyperuricemia. This compound also inhibits the transport of organic acids, such as benzoic or salicylic acid, by inhibiting their uptake into cells.
