1-[(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)methyl]-4-piperidinone (1-DCPP) is a potential anticancer agent that has been shown to be active against a variety of cancer cells, including pancreatic cancer. 1-DCPP is synthesized through an asymmetric synthesis, which relies on the hydrophobic effect to initiate the reaction. This process generates a chiral product with two enantiomers that can be used in functional assays and molecular modeling studies. 1-DCPP inhibits tumor growth by inhibiting the PI3K/Akt pathways and selectively killing cancer cells.
