Product Information
3-Nitro-4-phenylpyridine is a nitrate that has been shown to be a ligand for transition metal ions. The deuterium isotope effect of 3-nitro-4-phenylpyridine has been studied in the presence of sodium nitrate and it was found that sensitivity to catalytic reactions increases with the addition of deuterium. Nitrate can be synthetically prepared by reacting sulfur with nitric acid in the presence of zinc, which is then oxidized to form nitric oxide. The reaction mechanism of nitrate as an oxidation agent is believed to involve the formation of pyridinium ion.
