Product Information
2-Thia-6-azaspiro[3.3]heptane is a hydroxamic acid that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the metal cofactors in metalloenzymes, such as ribonucleotide reductase, methionine synthase, and nitroreductase. This binding prevents the formation of an enzyme-inhibitor complex with the enzyme active site, which is essential for enzymatic activity. 2-Thia-6-azaspiro[3.3]heptane has been shown to have hypotensive effects in vivo and hypothesized to be a pharmacological agent. It has also been shown to inhibit E. coli and other gram-negative bacteria in vitro with antibacterial drug interactions. 2-Thia-6-azaspiro[3.3]heptane is metabolized into 4 different chemotypes that are utilized by bacterial species including Streptomyces sp., Bacillus sp., Pse
