Product Information
- 1H-indazole, 7-iodo-
7-Iodo-1H-indazole is a heterocyclic compound with two terminal alkynes that is used as a cancer cell therapy. 7-Iodo-1H-indazole binds to the active site of xanthine oxidase, an enzyme that converts hypoxanthine and xanthine to uric acid. This binding inhibits the enzyme's function, and leads to the accumulation of hypoxanthine and xanthine in cells. The accumulation of these purines leads to cell death through oxidative stress or by inhibiting their synthesis into nucleotides. 7-Iodo-1H-indazole has been shown to be effective in the treatment of prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, and breast cancer. It also has been shown to inhibit isoforms of xanthine oxidase in vitro (e.g., PIM 1).
