Product Information
- 5-Chloropicolinamide
5-Chloropyridine-2-carboxamide is a bace1 inhibitor that binds to the active site of the enzyme. It has been shown to be more potent than other bace1 inhibitors in animal models of Alzheimer's disease. 5-Chloropyridine-2-carboxamide is an aminooxazoline amide with a carboxamide group at its C5 position. The postulated mechanism of action for this drug is inhibition of β-amyloid production by interfering with proteolytic cleavage at the aspartyl residue, which is necessary for the formation of β-amyloid peptides. 5-Chloropyridine-2-carboxamide was found to be orally bioavailable in rats and monkeys, and it exhibited activity in a variety of animal models for age-related diseases.
