Product Information
Benzyl 3-bromo-5-nitrophenylcarbamate is a nitro compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is used in veterinary medicine to treat respiratory infections caused by Clostridium perfringens and other bacteria. Benzyl 3-bromo-5-nitrophenylcarbamate binds to the penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall by competitive inhibition. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
