Product Information
N-Benzylpiperidin-4-amine is an orally bioavailable drug that is a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme methyltransferase. It has been shown to have a low affinity for other enzymes, such as cholinesterases and 5HT6 receptor. N-Benzylpiperidin-4-amine has shown efficacy in animal models of Alzheimer's disease and cancer, but clinical trials are still lacking. The drug's pharmacophore is derived from the structure of donepezil, a drug that inhibits acetylcholinesterase. This compound was also used in the synthesis of new ligands with improved pharmacological properties, such as reduced side effects or increased potency.
