Description:

PF 04449913 is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme caspase-3. It has been shown to have long-term efficacy and good tolerability in phase II clinical trials. PF 04449913 interacts with cell factor, a protein that is involved in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. This inhibition leads to inhibition of myeloid leukemia cells, which are important for the production of white blood cells and platelets in the body. PF 04449913 also inhibits Toll-like receptor signaling pathways that are activated by microbial products such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In vivo models have shown PF 04449913 to be well tolerated at doses up to 150 mg/kg/day and to reduce tumor size in mouse xenografts.
