Description:
2-Morpholinothiazole is a phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in xenograft models. It is also active against other PI3K family members, such as PI3Kα and PI3Kβ. 2-Morpholinothiazole is of class I PI3K inhibitors. Class I PI3K inhibitors bind to the ATP binding site of the enzyme, preventing ATP from binding and activating the enzyme. The inhibition of PI3K leads to a decrease in the production of phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate (PtdIns(4,5)P2), which inhibits cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis.
