Hoquizil is an analog of capsaicin, a compound found in chili peppers. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of protein kinases, which are enzymes that play a key role in cell signaling pathways. Hoquizil has demonstrated anticancer properties by inducing apoptosis (cell death) in various cancer cells, including those from the bladder and prostate.
