Product Information
Ethyl 1-methyl-2-oxopiperidine-3-carboxylate (E1MOPC) is a synthetic compound that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It is a nucleophile and can be used to introduce an ethoxy group at the C-3 position of the piperidine ring. This reaction is called condensation and it proceeds through a substitution reaction with sodium ethoxide in the presence of fluoroborate. The substituent introduced by this reaction is an ethoxy group that can be removed from the molecule by treatment with acid or base. E1MOPC has been shown to react with various other nucleophiles, such as phenol, thiols, alkyl halides, and amines. It can also be used to prepare esters from carboxylic acids and alcohols.
