2-Methylisoquinoline-1,3,4(2H)-trione is a ketone that belongs to the class of amines. It is an aromatic ketone with three methyl groups and one trione group. 2-Methylisoquinoline-1,3,4(2H)-trione can be used in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. The compound has been shown to inhibit caspase activity and induce apoptosis in cells by inhibiting the enzyme caspase. 2-Methylisoquinoline-1,3,4(2H)-trione also inhibits the modification of proteins by trimethylphosphine and prevents staudinger reactions from occurring.
