(Z)-4-Decenal is a fatty acid that is found in the proximal tubules of the kidney, where it functions as a lipid biosynthesis regulator. It has been shown to be an oxidative DNA damage agent and also inhibits lipid biosynthesis. This compound also acts synergistically with other compounds, such as propionate, to inhibit renal proximal tubule cells.
