It has been shown to inhibit candida parapsilosis and other fungi, as well as bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus. This drug has been synthesized using chemoenzymatic methods in an enantiopure form. N-[4-(2-Bromoacetyl)phenyl]acetamide is also of interest because it is a potential anti-inflammatory agent.
