2-(Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-yl)acetamide is a drug that is used to treat Parkinson's disease. It has been shown to increase the extracellular levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and inhibit the uptake of GABA. 2-(Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-yl)acetamide may also bind to benzodiazepine receptors in the brain, although it does not have any psychoactive effects. This drug binds to microglia cells in the brain and can be used to study microglia function. 2-(Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-yl)acetamide has shown efficacy for locomotor activity in mice when given orally or intraperitoneally. The dose response curve for this drug shows a maximum response at 3mg/kg.
