Description:

Methyl 3-acetylbenzoate is a benzene derivative that is used as a solvent in organic chemistry. It is a precursor to the drug anthracycline, which inhibits DNA synthesis and protein synthesis in bacteria. Methyl 3-acetylbenzoate is not considered to be environmentally hazardous, but can form ozone when it reacts with ultraviolet light. This compound is also used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, although its mechanism of action has not been fully elucidated.
