Product Information
2-Amino-7-(prop-2-en-1-yl)-6,7-dihydro-1H-purin-6-one is the monomeric form of the nucleoside adenosine. It is a test compound that is used to study the mechanisms of DNA damage and modification. 2APED has been shown to produce damaging modifications to both mammalian and bacterial DNA, which are thought to be due to its ability to react with thiol groups on proteins. 2APED also binds with high affinity to antibodies raised against it in mice, suggesting that it can act as a potential therapeutic agent for treating cancer. The half life of 2APED in humans has been found to be approximately 3 hours.
