Product Information
- 2-Chloro-4,6-Di-P-Tolyl-S-Triazine
2-Chloro-4,6-di-p-tolyl-1,3,5-triazine is an organic compound that is used as a photostabilizer in the production of polycarbonate plastics. This compound is synthesized by reacting Grignard reagent with 2,4,6-trichlorophenol and magnesium chloride. The functional theory explains how 2C4TPT stabilizes polycarbonate plastics by forming a hydrogen bond with the chloride ion. This stabilized polymer can then be heated without breaking down or melting. 2C4TPT absorbs ultraviolet light and has a high degree of photostability. The absorber can be quantified using gravimetric analysis with ultrafast laser spectroscopy.
