Product Information
7-Oxoundecanoic acid is a thrombotic agent that belongs to the group of ketones. It has been shown to have both antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory properties. 7-Oxoundecanoic acid also has been used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase activity. This drug is converted to methyl 7-oxohexadecanoate, which inhibits pancreatitis and septicemia by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. The activated form of 7-oxoaldehyde can be converted into aliphatic carboxylic acids with various physiological activities, depending on the position of the double bonds in the molecule. These acids are able to inhibit cancer proliferation, as well as promote cancer cell death by activating apoptosis and necrosis pathways.
