Product Information
- butanamide, N-methyl-3-oxo-N-(phenylmethyl)-
N-Benzyl-N-methylacetoacetamide is a benzylic electron donor, which can be used in the synthesis of carbonyl and amide compounds. It has been shown to react with methanol, yielding benzaldehyde and acetamide. The carbonyl group can then be converted to ketones or substituted with an amine group. N-Benzyl-N-methylacetoacetamide reacts with triplet molecular oxygen to form a benzene radical, which can undergo photocyclization reactions in the presence of light or other energy sources. Irradiation of this molecule yields a highly reactive singlet oxygen molecule that can react with double bonds.
