Description

p-[(E)-2-(5,6,7,8-Tetrahydro-5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-2-naphthyl)-propenyl]-benzoic acid ethyl ester is a synthetic retinoid that induces transcriptional activation of the retinoic acid receptor (RAR) and is a potent inducer of differentiation. It inhibits proliferation in vitro and in vivo by blocking the progression of DNA synthesis and inducing apoptosis. In vitro assays have shown that p-[(E)-2-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-2-naphthyl)-propenyl]-benzoic acid ethyl ester has potent anticancer activity against squamous carcinoma and lung fibroblasts. This drug also has biological properties such as being able to inhibit cell growth in human HL60 cells
