Product Information

Name:
Isonicotinic acid hexyl ester
Synonyms:
  • 4-Pyridinecarboxylic acid, hexyl ester
  • Hexyl isonicotinate
  • Isonicotinic acid, hexyl ester
Description:

Isonicotinic acid hexyl ester is a synthetic intermediate in the production of isonicotinic acid, which is used in the manufacture of pesticides. This drug has been shown to be effective against cancer cells and may have potential as an anticancer agent. Isonicotinic acid hexyl ester has been shown to inhibit the enzyme dehydrogenase that is responsible for converting isonicotinic acid into nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH). The inhibition of this enzyme leads to decreased levels of NADH and a decrease in ATP production. This drug also inhibits the expression of mitochondrial genes that are important for cellular respiration, leading to cell death.
