Description:

5-Phenyl-7-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-2-carbonyl chloride is a ligand that has been used for the synthesis of polymetallic complexes. It has a very low solubility in acetonitrile and is soluble in tetrahydrofuran. The compound crystallizes as a racemic mixture of two isomers. The solid state magnetic susceptibility is dependent on temperature and shows a change from ferromagnetic to paramagnetic at about -20°C. 5-Phenyl-7-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-2-carbonyl chloride has been shown to undergo transition metal mediated homoleptic exchange reactions with various transition metals such as gold, palladium, platinum and nickel. The reported transition temperatures are between -40°C and 50°C.
