Product Information
1-(2-Nitroethyl)naphthalen-2-ol is a proton transfer molecule that has been studied with a laser. The molecule can be reversibly protonated and deprotonated by irradiation with a low power laser pulse. This process takes less than one nanosecond, which is much faster than the seconds required for a proton to diffuse across the distance between two molecules in solution. 1-(2-Nitroethyl)naphthalen-2-ol has shown to be an excellent candidate for molecular switches and molecular memory devices due to its ability to reversibly switch between two states.
