1-(2-Oxo-2-(3'-(trifluoromethyl)-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)ethyl)-5-(pyrrolidin-1-ylsulfonyl)pyridin-2(1H)-one (BMS-387032) is a retinoic acid analog that has growth factor activity. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is an enzyme that synthesizes DNA. This agent also has the ability to induce cancer cell apoptosis and inhibit cancer cell proliferation. BMS-387032 binds to the cytosolic protein HSP90 and inhibits its ATPase activity, leading to a decrease in cellular chemoresistance.
