5-(4-(2-(5-Ethylpyridin-2-yl)-2-oxoethoxy)benzyl)thiazolidine-2,4-dione (5EPC) is a drug that inhibits tumor growth and has been used for the treatment of diabetes. It is an antidiabetic agent that binds to the receptor of soluble guanylate cyclase, which is responsible for regulating the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). 5EPC has shown inhibitory effects on chronic kidney disease in patients who are not diabetic. Furthermore, it has been shown that 5EPC can be used in combination with dpp-iv inhibitors for the treatment of metabolic disorders.
