Description

N-Desmethyldauricine is a dauricine analog that is used for the treatment of cancer. It is synthesized from daurisoline, which is found in plants of the genus Datura. N-Desmethyldauricine has been shown to induce autophagy and inhibit cell growth in some types of cancer cells, such as resistant cancer cells. N-Desmethyldauricine has been shown to be absorbed quickly and extensively by the liver and excreted through the kidneys. The drug reaches its highest concentration in plasma after only one hour following oral administration. N-Desmethyldauricine can be detected using mass spectrometric methods, chromatographic methods, or pharmacokinetic studies.
