3-(Benzyloxy)benzamide is a quinazolinone that inhibits the polymerase activity of DNA-dependent RNA polymerases. 3-(Benzyloxy)benzamide binds to the active site of these enzymes and blocks the binding of nucleoside triphosphates, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis. This drug also has cytotoxic properties. It is used as a chain inhibitor in radiation therapy and as an anti-cancer agent. 3-(Benzyloxy)benzamide can be used for the treatment of cancer cells, which are resistant to other chemotherapeutic agents such as cisplatin and adriamycin. It also has DNA repair properties.
