2-Cyanomethyl-S-dodecyltrithiocarbonate is a polymer drug that is synthesized from the reaction of anhydrous hydrogen cyanide and dodecyl mercaptan. The compound has been shown to have optical properties that depend on its degree of polymerization, with increasing degrees of polymerization leading to decreased transparency due to increased absorption by the hydroxy groups. The compound also undergoes a phase transition at a temperature of -30°C, which may be useful for applications as sealant or glue.
